This sign was at the start of the service road to the cinema. In 1985 it was removed and stripped to bare metal. It was re-painted with the intention of replacing it. Somehow this never happened. It's current location is unknown. Although both the cinema and the houses that were next to it have been redeveloped, the rusty pole that this sign was mounted on still remains at the end of the service road. |

Even in 1943 there are more
cars in the car park than bikes in the rack. Interestingly (that is a relative term) the original tubular rail survives this far into the war. The stubs of the rail that I remember confirm that they were later taken for the war effort. Just imagine the damage that could be done by dropping steel railings on the enemy.
